Pride Zine Workshop - Session 2 In-Person
To celebrate Pride, the library is hosting a free craft workshop open to all. Enjoy a relaxing break in a friendly space, and let your creativity shine by making a zine!
What’s a zine?
Zines (short for magazine or fanzine) are small, hand-made self-publications that can combine texts, images, collages, and more. Zines are a medium for artistic expression and a platform to share radical thoughts and bold ideas. As such, they’ve long been a part of feminist, queer, punk and activist cultures.
About the workshop
The workshop will be led by queer Chinese-Canadian artist Natalie Mark, whose work is somewhere between a reflection of life and a little bit curious. They will be present to guide you through the creation of your own zine. No prior experience is required. This is a chance to express your voice, ideas, and story to create something beautiful.
The workshop runs on Tuesday, May 27 and Thursday, May 29, from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. each day. You’re welcome to join one or both days. This is a flexible, come-and-go format. You are free to arrive and leave whenever you like. We encourage you to stay for the full session to have sufficient time to work on your zine.
All materials will be provided. Sweet snacks and coffee will be available, and you’re welcome to bring your own lunch to enjoy while you create.
This event is made possible thanks to the support of the Women's and Gender Studies Department and the Office of the Provost and Vice-President, Academic.
Please note: This is the registration page for Session 2 which takes place on Thursday, May 29. If you wish to participate in both sessions, you will also need to sign up on the registration page for Session 1.
