(Online) Pedagogical Approaches to AI for Faculty and Instructors Online
It's generally agreed that generative AI can be misused by learners to circumvent effort and commitment. Having an AI tool compose an entire essay, or thoughtlessly deferring to AI for all or most aspects of an assignment will, of course, reduce student engagement and thwart the objectives of the course. However, there are also some fun and potentially transformative uses of AI for teaching and learning that, when approached in certain prescribed ways, can lead to an increase in student engagement and in fact deepen their learning. Join Librarian Ian Fraser for a presentation and discussion of some of these methods.
